Walsall boss Lee Grant has spoken to the media following his side's 2-0 triumph over Port Vale on Saturday afternoon.
Going into the game on the back of two goalless draws in as many games, the Saddlers finally found the back of the net via James Connolly deep in first-half stoppage time, before Andrew Dallas opened his account for the season late in the second forty-five.
Speaking to Express & Star reporter George Bennett, Grant first discussed the importance of scoring the first goal of the game, which the former goalkeeper believes gave his team the energy to take the game to their opponents in the second-half.
He said: "Any goal is important, and the first one in big games is usually decisive. We felt that in the game.

"We wanted to start faster than what we did, but we worked hard and stood up to lots. We still managed to dominate possession and create opportunities in a scrappy half.
"To score from a set play, which we know this season is going to be decisive in both boxes, was really pleasing.
"It was nice because it affects the balance of what they’re having to say at half-time and also gives perhaps our group some energy going into the second half."
