Walsall boss Lee Grant admitted his side wasn't at its best after they held Tranmere Rovers to a one-all draw at Prenton Park on Saturday afternoon.
Making many changes from the side that was hammered by Stevenage in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday evening, the Saddlers were once again saved by goalkeeper Jed Ward as the former Bristol Rover man made ten saves across the contest.
Falling behind to Bobby Faulkner's header late in the second-half, the Saddlers were eventually rescued by Reece Smith in the early stages of stoppage time when Will Etheridge found him in space.
Speaking to Express & Star reporter George Bennett, Grant admitted his team didn't play very well, but went on to praise their character as they maintained their unbeaten start to the league campaign.
Lee said: "Well, if you play rubbish and you get a point away from home then yes I’m happy. I’m certainly not happy with our level, and we’ve set a high bar on that.

Lee said: "Well, if you play rubbish and you get a point away from home then yes I’m happy. I’m certainly not happy with our level, and we’ve set a high bar on that.
"We can be disappointed about that, but if we’ve not played very well and we’ve managed to take a really hard-fought, battling point, in front of some really motivated fans that came to back us this weekend, then we have to be pleased with that.
"We didn’t win any second balls in the first half, we didn’t win the physical battles. It’s really hard to hurt teams in this division.
"We’ve found it hard to break teams down, and Tranmere found success by booting it and landing on every second ball.
"I say that with the greatest of respect by the way because they did it well. Vaulks, Conlon and Ince landed on every second ball, we got outfought in some of those moments.
"Then the ball went up to our Number 9 and he didn’t have an easy time, but the character of this group is shining through loud and clear."
