Walsall academy prospects Ellis Harris, Archie Bunn, and Ryan Sjoerdsma all made their first-team debuts on Tuesday evening as the Saddlers took on Stevenage in the newly-named Jersey Mike's Trophy.Named in a much-changed Walsall team that also included several players from the fringes of the first team, Bunn started the game, while Harris and Sjoerdsma made their appearances from the bench.
Replacing Roman Dixon near the midway point of the first forty-five, Harris was joined by Sjoerdsma, who replaced Andrew Dallas with just over an hour played, as the academy took centre stage.
They weren't the only academy-linked players to feature in the team, as Will Etheridge and first-year pro Stan Straw were also involved, Will being replaced by Stan in the second half, as Jaden Kandemiri was also named on the bench.
The match itself wasn't a positive one as a whole, as the visitors scored six goals to earn a comfortable 6-1 victory in front of just over 1,000 fans at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium.
