Walsall boss Lee Grant has confirmed that defender Ryan Leak suffered a groin injury during the Saddlers' Carabao Cup victory over Bristol City on Thursday evening.Securing a place in Round Two thanks to Aaron Pressley's goal early in the second half, Leak was forced off after half-an-hour after signalling to the bench.
Replaced by fellow summer signing James Connolly, Leak will undergo tests to determine the extend of his injury, with Grant deciding to take a 'wait and see' approach.
Speaking to the media shortly after full-time, Lee said: "It’s just a case of assessing it over the next few days.
"I was so disappointed for him because he was looking so composed and the group look to him.
"Although he might be really disappointed, but at the same time, he can be really proud of the performance he put in and the support he gives the group of course.
"We’ll just see where he’s at. There’s no point me trying to second guess where I think he might be. It’s too early, so let’s just see."
