Walsall boss Lee Grant has confirmed that he won't be naming a club
captain as he believes there are several players capable of pulling on
the armband across the new campaign.Naming a variety of players captain during pre-season, Grant believes certain players will fit certain games when it comes to the captaincy, with the boss preferring a more fluid approach.
Speaking to Express & star reporter George Bennett, Lee said: "I don’t mind the feeling of just having the right captain for the right game each week.
"I’m really not in a position where I feel like I have to stand up in front of the world and say this is our captain and he’s our hero.
"I’ve got lots of players that I really trust in there and I really like the way they carry themselves, the way they work and the influence they have on the group.
"If I feel it’s right to give the armband to somebody on Thursday then it might be a different person on the next Saturday.
"And I’m not going to promise you that it’s not a completely different person against Grimsby after that. We’ll see how we go is the honest answer to that."
