Walsall have confirmed the signing of former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Ryan Leak, who has penned a one-year deal following a successful trial spell.Identified by supporters during the Saddlers' pre-season stalemate with Leamington, Leak, who also lists Burgos, Burton Albion, Salford City, and Ross County among his former employers, had been a free agent for over a year after leaving Ross County in June 2025.
Playing for half of the first forty-five, before being replaced by Ellis Harris, 28-year-old Leak suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon whilst at Ross County but is understood to be ready to find a new club after receiving the all-clear.
Saddlers boss Lee Grant is delighted to add Ryan's experience to his side. Speaking via the club's official website, he said: "It’s great to be able to bring Ryan into the football club.
"He’s a vastly experienced defender with spells in both League One and Two, and I’ve been impressed with him during pre-season, he has conducted himself well and fitted straight in to everything we’re about as a group.
"Ryan is keen to contribute in more ways than one, and that’s something I resonate with – I’m very much looking forward to seeing him represent our club during the season, and I have every confidence that he will be a popular figure with our supporters both on and off the pitch."
