Following the news that Walsall and Wigan Athletic had come to terms on a deal that will see him make the switch to the Brick Community Stadium, Connor Barrett has issued a statement, thanking the fans, players and staff for their support during his time in WS1.Joining the club from National League side AFC Fylde in the summer of 2024, 24-year-old Barrett made ninety-one first-team appearances across two seasons, and will begin a new chapter of his career in Greater Manchester
Speaking via his Instagram account, Connor said: "As I move on to the next chapter of my career, I couldn’t do so without saying thank you to every single Saddler.
"The club gave me my first opportunity in the EFL, and that’s something I’ll always be grateful for.
"It’s been a rollercoaster journey, with plenty of highs and lows, but they’re memories and experiences I’ll always be proud of and carry with me.
"I’ve met some incredible people along the way and made friends for life. Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout my time at the club.
"I wish you all nothing but success for the future. Walsall, thank you!"
