Following the end of the 2025/26 National League Play-Off Final, we now know which teams Walsall will be facing over the course of the upcoming 2026/27 League Two campaign, which begins across the weekend of Friday, 14th August. With league champions Bromley joined by Milton Keynes Dons, Cambridge United, and Play-Off Final winners Notts County in making the leap to League One, the Saddlers will now come up against Exeter City, Port Vale, Rotherham United and Northampton Town following their relegation from the third tier.
Despite making it into the post-season Play-Offs, Grimsby Town, Chesterfield, and Salford City, who were defeated in the Final by the Magpies on Bank Holiday Monday, will once again ply their trade in the fourth tier.
After making no inroads on the title race but also avoiding the drop, Walsall will once again face Barnet, Swindon Town, Oldham Athletic, Crewe Alexandra, Colchester United, Bristol Rovers, Fleetwood Town, Accrington Stanley, Gillingham, Cheltenham Town, Shrewsbury Town, Newport County, Tranmere Rovers, and Crawley Town.
And finally, as Barrow and Harrogate Town have been relegated to the National League, the Saddlers will take on York City for the first time since early 1999, as well as recent Play-Off winners Rochdale, who defeated Boreham Wood on penalties earlier this month.
