Walsall were back in League Two action on Saturday afternoon as, under new interim head coach Darren Byfield, they visited the Mornflake Stadium and took on Crewe Alexandra.
The first goal of the Byfield era went the way of the Saddlers when Albert Adomah flicked the ball home from Charlie Lakin's driven ball with just four minutes of the match played. A superb start for the managerless Reds.
The Saddlers were handed an opportunity to double their lead later in the half when Alex goalkeeper Ian Lawlor felled Daniel Kanu inside the area. Lawlor, however, instantly redeemed himself as he saved from the spot.
Walsall doubled their lead with just over six-minutes of the game remaining when Aaron Pressley came off the bench to tuck the ball home from an Albert Adomah pass.
Albert Adomah continued his Man of the Match-worthy performance by adding his second and the Saddlers' third as the game entered second-half stoppage time.
