Mat Sadler Not Thinking About His Future as Saddlers' Slump Continues

Mat Sadler isn't thinking about his immediate future as his team continues to struggle for form.
Bescot Banter - Walsall FC NewsWalsall boss Mat Sadler insisted he isn't thinking about his future as he seeks to avoid a third defeat in as many games when the Saddlers take on Salford City on Tuesday evening.

Following up a triumph over Shrewsbury Town with a duo of defeats against Fleetwood Town and Notts County, the team have slipped further from the Play-Off places, and are in dire need of a return to winning ways.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Sadler said: "We recognise where we are as a football club and we want to be competitive in this division season after season.

"That's what we try to do, and that's what we've been. So all of that is not anything that I'm thinking about. I'm thinking about the disappointment from today and getting ready again for Tuesday."

Winning just two of their last thirteen League Two games, the Saddlers have slipped to eleventh in the table ahead of kick-off, although Sadler insists his team can still get back into the battle for promotion.

He continued: "Every season is the same. It's about who picks up at this point of the season and takes that momentum with them.

"I wouldn't even say that it is other teams having a wobble. It's that everyone is so close in this division, and it happens every single season.

"Now it's up to us to wrestle it back from our point of view, and we have to do that from a base of performances, but we also have to see moments out.

"If it's your turn to show exactly what you're about, then that's what you've got to do."
