'Loved Every Minute': Byfield Beaming as Walsall Return to Winning Ways

Here's how caretaker boss Darren Byfield saw the Saddlers' trip to Gresty Road.
Interim Walsall head coach Darren Byfield admitted he was proud of his team as they ended a recent losing streak in style when they defeated Crewe Alexandra 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Opening the scoring via Albert Adomah in the first half, a goal from Aaron Pressley and another from Uncle Albert saw the Saddlers ease to victory.

Taking charge of the team for the first time since he was tasked with temporarily replacing Mat Sadler, Byfield insisted he and all his colleagues want to help the team achieve success.

Speaking to the assembled media, Darren said: "I loved it – every single minute of it. It's funny because I just needed three o'clock to come, and I'm like a big kid.

"I'm so proud of them and the staff. All of them have helped me massively, and we're all a team. We all want Walsall to be successful, and we'll keep ourselves going until we're told otherwise."

Darren wasted no time in putting his stamp on the team as he switched formation, allowing Albert Adomah to shine. When asked about the veteran's performance, Byfield beamed: "Albert is so important to this football club.

"I know the fans love him, but if they knew how he carries himself in training and how he is with his teammates, then they would love him even more.

"He's an example to everyone and an inspiration. I don't want to speak too loudly because I know he's behind me, and I have to keep him grounded for Tuesday.

"That's what happens when you carry yourself properly. You eat right, you sleep right, your attitude is right, and he was unbelievable today."
