Walsall are searching for a new head coach after Mat Sadler was given his marching orders after seeing his side win just two of their last fourteen games.
Ridgewell, who is currently assistant manager to Phil Neville at Major League Soccer outfit Portland Timbers, is understood to be on the Saddlers' radar as they look to fill the vacant place in WS1.
41-year-old Ridgewell, a former England U21 international, made over 400 professional appearances for clubs like the Villans, Blues, and Baggies as well as Portland Timers before hanging up his boots in 2020.
After retiring, he joined the then-National League side Dover Athletic as first-team coach in December 2020. He made the move across the pond in 2023, joining the coaching set up at former club Portland Timbers.
