Walsall have confirmed the permanent signing of midfielder Jago Godden from Enterprise National League North side Bedford Town.Joining the Saddlers on an 18-month contract, with the option of a further year, the 22-year-old will immediately head on loan to Drogheda United until January 2027, with the option to recall in the Walsall's favour.
Born in New Zealand, Jago began his footballing journey at senior level with Christchurch United and made 68 appearances in all competitions, scoring 14 goals. His first goal came in a victory at Nomads United before netting again in his next game against Coastal Spirit.
Jago’s final appearance for the club came in a two-all draw against Auckland City, as a few days later he decided to pursue opportunities elsewhere and travelled to the UK to put his best foot forward and progress with his playing career.
Attracting plenty of attention, Jago also had trials in the academies of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Coventry City, Bolton Wanderers, and The New Saints. He also spent a short period with Everton U21s.
In November 2025 Jago made the move to Bedford Town, and made an immediate impact for the Eagles, with four goals in his first six appearances, including a strike on his debut in a home loss to Darlington, as he continued to showcase his talents and get matches under his belt in English football.
