Youth Alliance: Salford City 2 Walsall 3

Here is our Match Report from the Saddlers' Youth Alliance clash with the Ammies.
Walsall Under-18s were back in action on Saturday morning as they made their way to Greater Manchester and took on Salford City in the EFL Youth Alliance — North.

The young Saddlers hadn't had a competitive outing since their 5-1 triumph over Morecambe back in early December, but several members of the squad have enjoyed loan spells with clubs up and down the region, in a bid to maintain fitness levels.

WALSALL TEAM
Harrison Barber; Ellis Harris, Levi Wain, Sam Oliver, Jakub Pawlowski, Stan Straw, Dylan Thomas, Louie Webb, Paul Makavore, Will Etheridge, Olly Nash
Substitutes: Fraser Hamilton-Wright; Finn Teesdale, Finn Batham, Younusa Kanyi, Jaden Kandemiri

The opening goal of Saturday morning's match went the way of the home side, as they scored with twenty-four minutes on the clock. However, the Saddlers didn't allow the Ammies' goal to rattle them as Paul Makavore restored parity just two minutes later.

Walsall grabbed their second goal of the game with fifteen minutes of the second forty-five remaining, when Finn Teesdale, who had earlier replaced Olly Nash, struck the ball into the back of the net.

As is often the case, a 2-1 lead proved to be a dangerous one, as the home side put the game back on level terms with five minutes of normal time remaining. The match seemingly heading for a draw.

However, the young Saddlers once again refused to allow their hosts' goal to get them down as they re-took the lead in the closing stages of the contest when Jakub Pawlowski, who recently spent a spell with Rugby Town, scored to give his side all three points.
