Walsall Sign Barnsley Defender Kacper Łopata on Loan

The Saddlers have added to their backline with this latest arrival.
Bescot Banter - Walsall FC NewsWalsall have confirmed the signing of Barnsley defender Kacper Łopata, who arrives at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium on loan for the remainder of the season.

Born in Kraków, Poland, 24-year-old Łopata has amassed almost 150 appearances over a career that has seen him play for a plethora of clubs.

Ultimately turning professional with Brighton & Hove Albion, Kacper spent time with Whitehawk and Zagłębie Sosnowiec before making a permanent move to Sheffield United.

As with this time in Brighton, his spell with the Blades didn't produce any appearances for his parent club, but a loan spell at Southend United went so well that he joined them on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

After a short-term spell with Woking, Kacper joined current parent club Barnsley in June 2023 and has so far made seventeen first-team appearances.

As with much of his career, the most of his time at Oakwell has been spent out on loan, with Port Vale, Ross County, and, most recently, Bristol Rovers all taking him on temporary spells.

Initially joining Bristol Rovers on a season-long loan last summer, Łopata, who has represented Poland at various youth levels, was recalled by his parent club, ahead of his switch to the Saddlers.
