AT: Prenton Park, Birkenhead
SATNAV: CH42 9PY
IN: Sky Bet League Two
KICK-OFF: 12.30pm
NEWS & VIEWS
After exiting two cup competitions in less than a week, attention returns to Sky Bet League Two and a trip to the Wirral.
Losing four times in as many all-competition outings, this weekend's meeting with the mid-table Super Whites could prove to be a crucial clash.
Despite the form guide looking rather drab, the Saddlers have lost just one of their last five awaydays in the league, but recent performances give us very little substance to get behind.
A lack of shots on goal and an increasingly shaky backline fill much of the fanbase with dread, especially given the team seems to be on course to repeat the fall of 2024/25. Although a place in the Play-Offs may well be deemed a success if the team can't find their feet.
TEAM NEWS
Walsall have received a boost as loanees Myles Roberts (Watford), Rico Richards (Burslem) and Daniel Kanu (Charlton Athletic) will remain in WS1 for the rest of the season.
The Saddlers have been further boosted by the recent loan arrivals of Kacper Łopata (Barnsley) and Aaron Loupalo-Bi (Fulham) could feature for the first time.
Jake Hollman is out after suffering a hamstring injury against Northampton Town in midweek, whilst Kemar Roofe and Harry Williams remain on the long-term injury list.
THE OPPOSITION
Opponents Tranmere sit seventeenth in the League Twp table, fourteen points above the drop zone and just eight points below the Play-Off places.
Rovers' last outing saw them succumb to league leaders Bromley as Michael Cheek struck twice to secure the win for the Ravens, their seventh victory in as many league games.

HEAD-TO-HEAD
Walsall and Tranmere Rovers have met on eighty-four previous occasions, and it's the Saddlers who hold an overall win/loss advantage, having won forty times compared to Rovers' twenty-eight.
There have also been sixteen draws over the history of the fixture, a history which began at Rovers' Prenton Park on Saturday, 10th September 1921 as the two sides met in a Division Three (North) clash in which the Saddlers won by one-goal-to-nil.
THE LAST TIME WE MET
The most recent competitive clash, also a League Two affair, took place in front of over 6,000 fans at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium on Saturday, 20th September 2025, and saw the Saddlers secure all three points with a 4-2 triumph.
The Saddlers grabbed the opening goal of the game as Evan Weir scored another screamer to register his second goal of the season with just nine minutes on the clock.
The visitors levelled the scores some seven minutes before the break when Joe Ironside opened his account for the season after getting on the end of a Josh Davison cross.
Evan Weir grabbed his and Walsall's second goal of the game on the stroke of half-time. Another fine finish from the defender, who is enjoying a strong start to the new campaign.
Walsall grabbed their third goal of the game just after the match reached the hour mark, as on-loan Charlton Athletic striker Daniel Kanu grabbed his third goal in as many games to give the Saddlers a welcome buffer.
Rovers cut the Saddlers' lead to just one goal late in the game went second-half substitute Billy Blackersaw a long-range effort deflect beyond Myles Roberts and into the back of the net.
Walsall would go on to reestablish their two-goal advantage in second-half stoppage time when Albert Adomah came off the bench to add his 101st goal of what has been a stellar career.
