Walsall will be back in Sky Bet League Two action on Saturday afternoon as they welcome Accrington Stanley to the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium.NEWS & VIEWS
After losing four times in as many all-competition games, Walsall finally returned to winning ways last weekend as they made easy work of Tranmere Rovers in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
Goals from Priestley Farquharson, Daniel Kanu, and Jamille Matt gave the Saddlers a conformable three goal lead before Rovers grabbed a late consolation via Joe Ironside.
Clearly, a win against underperforming opposition doesn't erase the four defeats that went before it, but the performance gave us plenty of positives to draw from, not least the performance of recent arrival Alex Pattison.
Providing the assist for Daniel Kanu's fourteenth goal of the season, Pattison seems to be the perfect replacement for Ryan Finnigan and, could well prove to be the signing of the window if he adds to his performance over the remainder of the season.
TEAM NEWS
Aaron Pressley has returned to training and could feature. Jake Hollman remains on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury against Northampton Town. Kemar Roofe and Harry Williams still have no return timeline and on the long-term injury list.
THE OPPOSITION
Opponents Accrington Stanley have won three of their last four games, but will reach this weekend's match on the back of a 2-0 defeat to promotion-chasing Milton Keynes Dons.
Stanley could have a fresh face in their line-up this weekend as they recently secured the services of former Everton prospect Luke Butterfield, who joined them on loan from Chesterfield.

HEAD-TO-HEAD
Walsall and the current incarnation of Accrington Stanley, which was formed in October 1968, have met on just ten previous occasions, and it's Stanley that hold a head-to-head advantage, having won five times compared to the Saddlers' four.
Stanley lost the first meeting between the two sides. Taking place at Fraser Eagle Stadium on Saturday, 21st October 2006, goals from Hector Sam and Mark Wright either side of an Ian Craney effort were enough to secure the win for the Saddlers.
THE LAST TIME WE MET
The most recent meeting, also a League Two clash, took place at the Wham Stadium on Saturday, 27th September 2025, and saw the Saddlers win 3-1.
The first goal of the game didn't arrive until shortly after the match reached the hour mark, when centre-back Aden Flint opened his account for the season as he headed home from a Courtney Clarke corner kick.
Walsall doubled their lead later in the half when Aaron Pressley secured his second goal of the season after Daniel Kanu saw a shot saved, the ball going into the path of Pressley, who happily sent it into the back of the net.
The home side grabbed a goal back in second-half stoppage time, Charlie Caton giving the Saddlers something to think about.
The Saddlers' two-goal lead was swiftly restored just moments later when Albert Adomah came off the bench to add another goal to his ever-increasing tally.
MATCH OFFICIALS
The EFL has confirmed that Elliott Swallow will take charge of the match with Christopher Husband and Adam Ricketts being named as assistant referees. Thomas Cooke has been selected as Fourth Official.
