Attention turned to cup action on Tuesday evening as the Saddlers visited the Lamex Stadium and took on League One side Stevenage in the EFL Trophy, Round of 32.
After playing out a goalless first half, the visitors bagged the opening goal of the contest twelve minutes into the second-half when Carl Piergianni saw a header squeeze past Sam Hornby and into the back of the net.
Walsall levelled the scores six minutes later when Rico Richards got on the end of a Jake Hollman ball to put the Saddlers back on level terms.
The Saddlers, and Rico, snagged their second goal of the game nine minutes later when the Boro defence failed to deal with a Walsall attack, allowing Richards to slam the ball home.
