Walsall looked to make it two cup successes in seven days as they made their way to the Gateshead International Stadium and took on National League side Gateshead in the Second Round of the Emirates FA Cup.
Walsall opened the scoring with twenty-five minutes played as Daniel Kanu notched his ninth goal of the season as Ryan Finnigan was felled inside the area, leading to a spot-kick that Kanu was only too happy to convert.
The Saddlers began the second half at pace, and doubled their lead four minutes into the second forty-five, when Aden Flint flicked the ball over the line following a free-kick across the face of goal.
