Birmingham Senior Cup: Rugby Borough 0 Walsall 2

A young Saddlers XI took on Rugby Borough in local cup action on Wednesday evening.
A Walsall XI was in action on Wednesday evening as they made their way to Kilsby Lane in  Warwickshire where they took on Rugby Borough in the Second Round of the 2025/26 Birmingham Senior Cup.

Walsall named a young matchday squad, as the gaggle of academy prospects looking to catch the eye as they took on the Borough's experienced side under the lights.

WALSALL
Harrison Barber; Ellis Harris, Marley Roberts, Sam Oliver, Jakub Pawlowski, Stan Straw, McLloyd Oben, Louie Webb, Paul Makavore, Will Etheridge, Dylan Thomas
Subs: Fraser Hamilton-Wright; Finn Batham, Finn Teesdale, Archie Bunn, Olly Nash

The match took a while to get going, with neither side able to find the back of the net during the opening forty-five minutes.

Despite their inexperience, it was the young Saddlers who ultimately opened the scoring when Will Etheridge lashed the ball home from the penalty spot with just over twenty-minutes of normal time remaining.

Walsall continued to pressure their opponents and doubled their advantage with just a minute of the ninety still to be played when Dylan Thomas put the game beyond the home side as the Saddlers booked their place in the next round.
