The Saddlers came through the month of September unbeaten with three victories and a draw, climbing to the League Two summit in the process.
Darrell Clarke (Bristol Rovers)
Clarke’s second spell in charge of Rovers began with three league defeats in August. Never one to worry unduly, he remained calm, trusted in his processes and saw his side move up the table with 10 points from four unbeaten games.
Ian Holloway (Swindon Town)
Holloway guided his Swindon side to three wins from four games to move second in League Two, scoring 10 goals. Even more impressively, it was achieved without striker Harry Smith, who had his season ended by an ACL injury.
Micky Mellon (Oldham Athletic)
Mellon showed his know-how and experience after Oldham began slowly on their return to the EFL. He kept his side focused, knowing that results would match performances, which they did in a 10-point haul from four unbeaten matches.
Mat Sadler (Walsall)
It is hard to over-state the job that Sadler has done in building a new side following last season’s heartache. He has the Walsall fans dreaming again after collecting 10 points from four unbeaten games to move to the top of League Two.
The Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel comprises former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies, with the winner due to be announced on Friday.
