Walsall Under-18s were back in action on Saturday morning as they made their way to Stoke-on-Trent and took on Port Vale in the EFL Youth Alliance.

After comfortably defeating Lincoln City a couple of weeks ago, the young Saddlers were back in action on Saturday morning as they made their way to Keele University and took on Port Vale.

Fraser Hamilton-Wright; Ellis Harris, Jakub Pawlowski, Marley Roberts, Kasiah Nermishord, Stan Straw, McLloyd Oben, Louie Webb, Finn Teesdale, Will Etheridge, Paul Makavore
Substitutes: Levi Wain, Archie Bunn, Sam Oliver, Tyler Coulson, Jaden Kandemiri

After falling behind within the opening minute of the game, the Saddlers refused to let their heads drop and were soon back on level terms when Will Etheridge scored with seven minutes played.

Buoyed by their goal, the young Saddlers went on to take the lead just five minutes later when Paul Makavore slotted home, a welcome goal after featuring on the bench during the midweek EFL Trophy triumph over Shrewsbury Town.

Makavore went on to add his second and the Saddlers' third midway through an action-packed first-half. His goal providing a welcome, though short-lived buffer.

Vale grabbed a goal back a few minutes before the half-hour mark, the referee awarding them a penalty, which their happily made the most of.

The home side continued their comeback in the second half as they were more than happy to dispatch another penalty to level the scores with sixty-five minutes played.

Walsall hearts were broken later in the game as the home side went back into the lead, ultimately taking the win by four-goals-to-three. A superb first-half showing from the youngsters, but, sadly, nothing to show for it.
