Walsall were back in cup action on Tuesday evening when they took on near rivals Shrewsbury Town in their first outing of the EFL Trophy group stage.
The opening goal of the game went the way of the Saddlers as on-loan Blackpool midfielder Ryan Finnigan celebrated his first start with his first goal.
The Shrews were soon back on level terms as recent arrival Bradley Ihionvien bagged his first goal for the club, putting the contest back on level terms.
Walsall went back into the lead midway through the second half when Albert Adomah took advantage of a defensive mishap to grab his first goal of the season.
The Saddlers' third goal arrived ten minutes from full-time when Deadline Day signing Jid Okeke was played in on goal before he sent an effort under the 'keeper and into the back of the net.
