Duo Make Walsall Senior Debuts

Walsall Academy continues to produce players, with this latest pair just a couple of many waiting in the wings.
Bescot Banter - Walsall FC NewsYoung Walsall academy prospects Stan Straw and McLloyd Oben made their senior debuts on Tuesday evening as the Saddlers' faced Shrewsbury Town in the group stage of the Vertu Trophy.

Playing a regular part in Ryan Simmonds' Under-18s side, both Straw and Oben came off the bench and played a part in a what was the Saddlers# forty-fifth competitive victory over the Salopians.

Straw replaced an injured Priestley Farquharson just before half-time, whilst Brandon Comley made way for Oben a few minutes after the hour mark, with both players no doubt looking forward to earning more match minutes in the first-team.

The match itself saw the Saddlers open the scoring five minutes into the first-half via Ryan Finnigan, only for Bradley Ihionvien to level for the home side just five minutes later.

Second-half goals from veteran forward Albert Adomah and Deadline Day signing Jid Okeke saw the Saddlers ease to victory, moving to the top of their group in the process.

Congratulations, Stan and McLloyd!
