Youth Alliance: Mansfield Town 3 Walsall 1

The young Saddlers were back on the road as they took on Mansfield Town Under-18s.
Walsall Under-18s returned to action on Saturday morning as they made their way to the Radford & Hymas Academy in Mansfield and took on Mansfield Town in their third outing of the new campaign.

Earning just one point from their opening two games of the season, the Saddlers were looking to rebound from their midweek defeat to Blackpool as they hoped to secure maximum points.

Opponents Mansfield began their campaign strongly with a 2-0 home victory over Preston North End last weekend, giving them plenty to build upon as they welcome the young Saddlers to town.

WALSALL TEAM
Fraser Hamilton-Wright, Jakub Pawlowski, Marley Roberts, McLoyd Oben, Sam Oliver, Stan Straw, Louie Webb, Finn Teesdale, Lincoln Hunt, Will Etheridge, Olly Nash
Substitutes: Archie Bunn, Levi Wain, Ellis Harris, Tyler Coulson, Ethan Khan

Sadly, the young Saddlers' search for their first win of the season will continue on to next weekend, as they conceded early goals in both halves on the way to a 3-1 defeat in Nottinghamshire.

It wasn't all bad news for Walsall, however, as defender Stan Straw, who had been wearing the captains' armband, continued his strong start to the season, grabbing his second goal in three games as a win still evades Ryan Simmonds' side.
