Walsall Linked with Burnley Forward Michael Mellon

The Saddlers are believed to be looking to add more firepower to their attacking line.
Bescot Banter - Walsall FC NewsWalsall are once again being linked with a loan move for Burnley forward Michael Mellon, who they were understood to be targeting last season.

Blackpool born Mellon, a product of both the Manchester United and Burnley academy systems, turned professional with the Clarets in 2022 and has spent much of his time away on loan.

Playing for the likes of Morecambe, Dundee, Stockport County, and Bradford City, the 21-year-old was on the Saddlers' loan radar last season following the recall of Stoke City striker Nathan Lowe.

However, Mellon opted to join the Saddlers' League Two rivals Bradford City, where he went on to make fifteen appearances, scoring just twice as the Bantams secured promotion to League One.

According to reporter Alan Nixon, Walsall are leading the race for the forward, with Head Coach Mat Sadler hoping to add another option to his attacking line as he looks to challenge for the title once again.
