Here we take a look ahead to the Saddlers' meeting with the Mariners.
Bescot Banter - Walsall FC NewsThe Saddlers' season continues on Tuesday evening as they welcome Grimsby Town to the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium as they compete in their fourth game of the new League Two campaign.

MATCH INFORMATION

The match is due to kick-off at 7.45pm, with Team News being published at around 6.30pm.

NEWS & VIEWS

The Saddlers returned to winning ways at the weekend as they overcame ten-man Barnet in front of around 800 travelling fans at the Hive Stadium.

Opening the scoring with just two minutes on the clock, Connor Barrett grabbed his second goal of the season before summer signing Aaron Pressley opened his account for the club.

After conceding a goal five minutes before the break, the Saddlers were handed a man advantage in the second forty-five when Nnamdi Ofoborh was shown a second yellow card following a poor challenge.

Despite having the lead and one more player on the pitch, the team struggled to put the game to bed and could probably count themselves luck as the Bees fell to their third defeat in as many league games.

As the games continue to arrive at a seemingly non-stop rate, the team will be looking to build upon their fairly strong start when they welcome the in-form Mariners to the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium.

THE OPPOSITION

Opponents Grimsby Town are undefeated in the league so far this season. Wins over Crawley Town, and Newport County, along with a three-all draw against Harrogate Town, seeing them sit fourth in the table ahead of their trip to WS1.

THE LAST TIME WE MET

The most recent meeting took place at the Poudland Bescot Stadium on Saturday, 8th March 2025, and saw Grimsby ease to a 3-2 victory.

Walsall started the game strongly, and went into the lead with just six minutes on the clock as on-loan MK Dons forward Ellis Harrison capped off a swift counter-attack before slotting the ball home.

The Mariners levelled the scores midway through the first-half, as Jayden Luker saw an effort from the edge of the area deflect past Tommy Simkin and into the back of the net.

Grimsby went into the lead on the edge of half-time as substitute Tyrell Warren was felled inside the area, leading to Danny Rose converting from the spot.

The visitors' third goal arrived sixty-six minutes into the game, as Luker added his second of the afternoon as he broke the backline before dispatching the ball into the net.
