Walsall Linked with Stevenage Striker Aaron Pressley

The Saddlers have been linked with a move for a striker as Mat Sadler looks to rebuild his squad.
Bescot Banter - Walsall FC NewsRecent media reports suggest that Walsall are close to securing the signature of 23-year-old Stevenage striker Aaron Pressley, for an undisclosed fee.

Previously joined in the race by Bristol Rovers, and Cambridge United, the Saddlers are believed to be close to signing 6ft 4in Pressley, who is a former Scottish youth international.

Born in Edinburgh, Aaron's first foray into the beautiful game came at both the Heart of Midlothian and Aston Villa academies, with the forward spending seven years at Villa Park.

Going on to join Brentford in January 2020, Aaron spent much of his time in the Brentford B team, though did make a total of three first-team appearances for the Bees.

During his spell at Brentford, he also spent time on loan with the likes of AFC Wimbledon and Accrington Stanley, scoring twelve goals across a total of fifty-four games.

Leaving the Bees in August 2023, Pressley then joined Stevenage on a two-year deal, but saw his first-team opportunities suffer due to an injury that restricted him to twenty-five games.

His second season with the Boro was also a difficult one as, after making just seven appearances, he was ultimately loaned out to Barrow in a bid to find fitness — twenty-one games and four goals would follow.

Walsall are in the market for several new signings following a disappointing 2024/25 campaign that saw them let slip a twelve point lead at the top of the table before eventually losing the Play-Off Final to AFC Wimbledon.
