PRE-MATCH NEWS & VIEWS

Walsall suffered their first defeat in three league games at the weekend as Doncaster Rovers continued their remarkable run of form by winning their seventh game in a row.

Despite Isaac Hutchinson's 14th goal of the season, the Saddlers were unable to close the gap on the Play-Off places, and remain on the outside looking in as we near the final few weeks of the 2023/24 League Two campaign.

Despite the defeat, the Reds remain in the same place they were ahead of kick-off as Crawley Town, who currently occupy seventh place in the table, also slipped to defeat as title-chasing Wrexham secured a 4-1 win.

This weekend's match is likely to play a major role in whether the Saddlers do ultimately make it to the Play-Offs; Win and, with a couple of positive results elsewhere, they could be in prime position; Lose and they could be a six point gap between them and 7th.

OPPOSITION NEWS
