'Pleased & Proud' Sadler Welcomes Walsall's Win

Walsall boss Mat Sadler spoke to the media shortly after full-time.
Walsall boss Mat Sadler praised his team's solid performance as they took their latest title-chasing scalp on at the Bescot Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Defeating second-placed Mansfield Town by two-goals-to-one, the Saddlers became the only team to have defeated all of the League Two top four this season, though they didn't climb any closer to the top half as they remained 16th in the table.

Goals from Jamille Matt and substitute Emmanuel Adegboyega saw the Saddlers add to triumphs over Stockport County, Crewe Alexandra, and Wrexham, as they continue to show glimpses of the team they could be.

When asked about his team's strong record against title contenders, Sadler said: "I am pleased and proud.

"I'd highlighted in the week that I think we're the only team in the division to be able to do that this season.

"We ran into the ground today and you have to do that against some of the best teams in the division.

"We had those moments go our way today, which was clear, but we earned the right for that through our hard work, energy and good play.

"We're very lucky to have the midfielders we have. Jack. He's a powerful boy and he really drove us up the pitch.

"Isaac is still influencing the game even when he's not scoring and that's all underpinned by Coms in that engine room."
