Walsall FC and the Trivela Group have announced that the Saddlers' long-standing Director and CEO, Stefan Gamble, will be joining Trivela Group LLC as its new VP of Finance.
As a part of this transition, Stefan will resign as the CEO of the club, and also as a Director, but only once a suitable replacement has been identified, installed, and an effective transition has taken place.
Stefan has served on the Board of Directors of Walsall Football Club since August 2007, and as its Chief Executive since July of 2010. He has also previously served as a Main Board Director of the English Football League. He originally joined the club in 2002.
In this new role as VP of Finance at Trivela Group, whilst stepping back from the day-today running of the Club, Stefan will retain a central and active role in the financial management, financial planning, accounting, reporting, etc., at Walsall Football Club, while also serving a similar role in Trivela Group as a whole, and at Drogheda United FC.
The Club will immediately begin the process of identifying the next CEO of the Football Club, with Stefan continuing to faithfully serve this critical role until the recruitment process and transition is complete.
Speaking via the club's official website, Walsall Co-Chairman Benjamin Boycott said; "I’m excited about this transition for all parties involved. Stefan is an outstanding person with very high integrity, an extremely skillful financial professional, and has become to me a trusted colleague and a close personal friend.
"As we look to continue to grow at Trivela Group, he will be a vital part of the team – and this is a strong next step for him personally.
"Critically, however, this transition is taking place in a way that he is able to continue to leverage his knowledge and outstanding financial expertise at Walsall Football Club.
"The net effect to the Football Club will be an increase in overall capacity, as the Club retains Stefan’s financial oversight while also adding a new team member in the CEO role, tasked with driving the business onward and upward on both front office and sporting sides."
Stefan Gamble added; "This is an exciting transition for myself and for Walsall Football Club. There have been some real positive changes since Trivela came in in May of 2022, and in this new role I look forward to helping them continue to improve the Club, while also assisting in the future growth of Trivela as a whole.
"I have loved my time at the Club and have had the pleasure of working with some incredible people along the way. It is a special club with fantastic support but I feel now is the right time for me to move on and let someone else pick up the reins."
Regarding Gamble’s tenure at Walsall FC, Boycott continued; "For the past 21 years, Stefan has been an admirable and faithful servant of the Club, and has given a tremendous amount of himself to it.
"From serving as a Management Accountant in 2002, all the way to his current role as a central figure at the Club, he has worked tirelessly and selflessly for the good of the Club.
"Alongside Leigh Pomlett, he played a central role in creating a situation where the Club could be reunited with its freehold, oversaw significant investment in the Club, and was vital to building a strong foundation of stability and sustainability.
"We all owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude, and I look forward to continuing to work with him in this new capacity."
