Match Stats: Stockport County 3 Walsall 1

Here are the Match Stats from the Saddlers' League Two meeting with Stockport County.
Walsall were back in action on Saturday afternoon as they made their way to Edgeley Park and took on table-topping Stockport County in their latest outing of the 2023/24 League Two campaign.

The opening goal of the game didn't arrive until the second minute of first-half stoppage time when Akil Wright crashed the ball home with a low, powerful effort that gave Jackson Smith no chance.

Walsall didn't allow their hosts' goal to get them down as, just two minutes after they'd fallen behind, Douglas James-Taylor put them back on level terms with a strong header from a Tom Knowles cross.

Stockport put themselves back into the lead in the second half as Isaac Olaofe was the first to react to Callum Camps' post-bound free-kick as he was on hand to slam the ball over the line.

Stockport looked to have sealed the win and with it the points in the second-half as Liam Gordon felled Connor Lemonheigh-Evans in the box leading to substitute Paddy Madden's well-taken penalty.
