Match Preview: v Alfreton Town (H)

Here we take a look ahead to Tuesday evening's Emirates FA Cup - Second Round replay between the Saddlers and Alfreton Town.
Walsall welcome National League North side Alfreton Town to Poundland Bescot Stadium on Tuesday as the sides battle it out to join Southampton in the Third Round of the world's oldest domestic cup competition.

PRE-MATCH VIEWS

After being held to a draw in last week's rearranged clash, the Saddlers will be hoping to use Saturday's welcome win over Notts County as a stepping stone on their way to the Third Round.

Buoyed by Saturday's welcome win over promotion-chasing Notts County, Mat Sadler's side will have a point to prove as they look to make easy work of their part-time opponents and build some momentum over the busy festive period.

With injuries continuing to impact his selection, Sadler may well opt to give some of the academy prospects a place in the matchday squad and allow some of his overused players a spell on the sidelines.

WALSALL TEAM NEWS

Goalkeeper Owen Evans remains a doubt, whilst Ross Tierney was forced off during the win over Notts County with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

Aramide Oteh is likely to miss several more months of action as he continues his rehabilitation following recent surgery.

OPPOSITION NEWS

Alfreton have enjoyed a week off as their originally scheduled meeting with Chorley was rescheduled due to their opponents' involvement in the Third Round of the Isuzu FA Trophy.

Looking to take an unlikely place in the Third Round, Alfreton will be well-prepared, fresh, and full of desire as they continue to chase a piece of modern history in Derbyshire,

THE LAST TIME WE MET

The last and only competitive meeting between the Saddlers and Alfreton took place in front of 1,247 fans at the Impact Arena on Tuesday, 5th December, and saw no goals scored as both of the goalkeepers maintained a clean sheet.
