Miah Dennehy

Former Saddler Miah Dennehy has passed away.
Bescot Banter - Walsall FC NewsWe are saddened to learn of the death of former Walsall winger Miah Dennehy, who has died at the age of 73.

Born in Cork on Wednesday, 29th March 1950, Miah was capped eleven times by Ireland and played for clubs such as Cork Hibernians, Nottingham Forest, Bristol Rovers, Trowbridge Town, Cardiff City, Cork United, Waterford, Limerick United, Drogheda United, and Newcastle West over a seventeen-year career.

Joining the Saddlers in 1975, Dennehy went on to make almost 130 league appearances and scored twenty-two goals for the Reds before leaving for Bristol Rovers in 1978.

Before arriving in the Black Country, Miah scored an FAI Cup final hat-trick for Cork Hibernians in 1972 as they overcame Waterford United, becoming the first player to do so.
