PRE-MATCH VIEWS

The Saddlers will be back in action on Tuesday evening as they welcome Crawley Town to Poundland Bescot Stadium, for their fifteenth outing of the 2023/23 League Two campaign.

After a Freddie Draper hat-trick saw Mat Sadler's side salvage a late point away to the Exiles on Friday evening, the Reds will be hoping to build upon their good home form, which has seen them lose just once in six home league games.

OPPOSITION NEWS

Opponents Crawley Town have lost their last three League games, including last weekend's 4-2 defeat to surprise title-chasers Crewe Alexandra, as their early-season form begins to become a distant memory.

In stark contrast to Walsall's strong home form, the Red Devils have struggled on the road, winning just one of their five awaydays, (D 2, L 2), a run that puts them toward the foot of the form table.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Walsall and Crawley Town have met on just fifteen previous occasions and it's the Saddlers who hold a small overall lead having won on five previous occasions, compared to the Red Devils' four.

There have also been six draws over the history of the fixture, a history which began at the Broadfield Stadium on Saturday, 17th November 2012 as the two sides met in a League One clash which would see four goals scored but would ultimately end all-square.

Febian Brandy had given Walsall the lead with fourteen minutes on the clock, but Billy Clarke levelled the scores some eight minutes later.

The Saddlers re-took the lead via Ashley Hemmings with sixteen minutes of normal time remaining, only for Jonathan Forte to level the scores with eighty-one minutes played.

THE LAST TIME WE MET

The most recent meeting between the Saddlers and Red Devils was a League Two clash that took place at Crawley's Broadfield Stadium on Saturday, 29th April, and saw the spoils shared as neither of the two sides could find that all-important goal.

MATCH OFFICIALS

The EFL has confirmed that Will Finnie who is based in Bedfordshire, will be the man in the middle, as the Saddlers take on the Red Devils.

Ryan Williams and Steven Rushton have been named assistant referees, whilst Daniel Flynn will act as Fourth Official.
