Walsall midfielder Ronan Maher and forward Marvellous Onabirekhanlen are currently out on loan as they look to gain experience and maybe force their way into Mat Sadler's first-team plans.

Ronan Maher was among the starters as Rushall played host to Chorley in the National League North on Saturday afternoon.

Maher, who has earned plenty of first-team football since making the short-term over to Dales Lane, was highly involved in the game, with the visiting defence often unable to cope with his movement across their backline.

The former scholar also had a hand in the scoreline as the Pics won 5-0 with Danny Waldron netting four, the second of his goals coming via a rebound from a powerful Maher strike and the third arriving from Ronan's assist, and Luther Munakandfa's debut goal seeing the points awarded to Liam McDonald's side.

Marvellous Onabirekhanlen, who recently saw his stay extended for another month, started as Chasetown played host to Bootle on Saturday afternoon.

As with Maher, Marvellous was a big part of proceedings and was part of the move that ultimately saw Chasetown take the lead as he was felled inside the box, forcing the referee to award a penalty, which Jack Langston was only too happy to put into the back of the net.

The Scholars went on to take all three points by three-goals-to-two, with Marvellous grabbing what would prove to be the winning goal as he ensured a previous effort crossed the line late in the second-half.
