Youth Alliance: Walsall 3 Salford City 2

The young Saddlers welcomed Salford City Under-18s to Ray Hall Lane on Saturday afternoon.
Walsall Under-18s returned to action on Saturday afternoon as they took on Salford City in their latest EFL Youth Alliance - North West outing of the season at the Birmingham FA headquarters on Ray Hall Lane.

After securing a welcome win against Bolton Wanderers in the Youth Alliance Cup last weekend, the young Saddlers were looking to earn their first win of the league season after losing their first three games of the campaign.

WALSALL TEAM
Kilroy; Beckford, Roberts, Bennett, Lawal-Olumegbon, Cox, Juliff, Poskitt, Uchenna, Thomas, Leydon
Substitutes: Foster; Webb, Straw, Ash-Fookes, Wragg

Fresh off his hat-trick scoring display against the Trotters last weekend, hot prospect Jaiy Leydon was back among the goals against the Ammies as he netted the first goal of the game with around fifteen minutes on the clock.

Jaiy's superb spell showed no sign of slowing down as, just nine minutes late, he bagged his and Walsall's second goal of the game with a well-taken effort into the bottom corner of the Salford net.

The visitors grabbed a goal back with around four minutes of the first-half remaining but their route back into the game was soon blocked as Piers Juliff's header restored the Saddlers' two-goal cushion just moments later.

The Saddlers looked to be crusading to victory as there were no goals for forty minutes of the second half, however, they were made to sweat as the visiting Ammies grabbed their second goal of the contest with five minutes remaining.

Walsall were ultimately able to secure all three points as they made it two wins in as many games as they continued to show signs of improvement following their somewhat slow start to the season.
