Loan Watch: Saturday, 23rd September 2023

Here is this week's look at how the loaned-out Saddlers are getting on during their spells away from WS1.

Walsall goalkeeper George Barrett, midfielder Ronan Maher and forward Marvellous Onabirekhanlen are currently out on loan as they look to gain experience and maybe force their way into Mat Sadler's first-team plans.

OUT ON LOAN
NAME ON LOAN WITH LOAN ENDS
GEORGE BARRETT PAGET RANGERS 15 OCT 2023
RONAN MAHER RUSHALL OLYMPIC 6 JAN 2024
MARVELLOUS ONABIREKHANLEN CHASETOWN 6 OCT 2023

Ronan Maher completed the full ninety-minutes as Rushall Olympic took on Scarborough Athletic, in the National League North at Dales Lane.

In what will go down as a superb afternoon for all at the Pics, a Sam Mantom hat-trick, coupled with Tom Tonks' solo strike, saw Liam McDonald's side ease to victory, despite Frank Mulhern's penalty on the hour mark and Harry Green's goal thirteen minutes from time.

Marvellous Onabirekhanlen was among the starters, and played for around seventy minutes, as Chasetown took on Carlton Town in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy at the Bill Stokeld Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Sadly, for Chasetown, they were unable to secure a place in the next round of the competition as an early Niall Davie penalty, along with a Khyle Sargent header proved to be enough to cancel out Ryan Nesbitt's late goal to knock the Scholars out.

Meanwhile, George Barrett wasn't involved as Paget Rangers took on Darlaston Town in the FA Vase - Second Qualifying Round at Coles Lane.

After going two goals behind, the Bears scored via Tobias Marshall (50') and Freddie Cockerill (83') to level the scores, but were ultimately dumped out of the cup as Darlaston netted three goals in the last five minutes of normal time.
