Wayne Evans

Wayne made over 450 league appearances over a fifteen-year playing career.
Bescot Banter - Walsall FC NewsWe are saddened to learn of the passing of former Walsall defender Wayne Evans, who has died at the age of 51.

Born in Abermule on Wednesday, 25th August 1971, Wayne Duncan Evans joined the Saddlers from Welshpool Town in 1993, and went on to make over 180 league appearances during his stay at Bescot Stadium.

Forming part of the team which finished Division Three runners up in 1994/95, Wayne also played for the likes of Rochdale, Kidderminster Harriers, and Newtown, where he returned after four years of retirement to take a place on the bench as they took on The New Saints in 2011.

Along with playing the beautiful game Evans went into coaching after hanging up his boots, as he coached Shrewsbury Town's youth team, along with spells in Canada and the United States.

We would like to pass on our sincere condolences to Wayne's family and friends during this sad time.
