The Saddlers were back in action on Saturday afternoon as they made the trip to the Wirral and took on Micky Mellon's Tranmere Rovers with a view to making further inroads on securing a place in the prized promotion places.
The game was a tight and somewhat turgid affair with the first goal not arriving until the second forty-five as on-loan Mansfield man Danny Johnson bagged his fifteenth of the campaign with 72 minutes on the clock.
Unfortunately for the Saddlers, they were unable to retain their lead for long as, after Manny Monthé saw red for a second bookable offence, the home side levelled the scores as Josh Hawkes sent a free-kick into the back of the net.
