Brendan Kiernan was a second-half substitute as Grimsby Town took on Salford City at Blundell Park on Thursday evening.

Sadly for Brendan, the damage had already been done as a Matt Smith hat-trick and an Ethan Gilbraith goal saw Salford secure three welcome points, with Otis Khan's first-half leveller proving to be a false dawn.

Rollin Menayese played for the full ninety-minutes as Hartlepool United took on Mansfield Town at the Suit Direct Stadium.

Looking to build upon their recent win over Rochdale, the Pools went into the lead after nineteen minutes via Jack Hamilton's first league goal in the English game but were soon dragged back onto level terms by former United striker Rhys Oates early in the second half before Oliver Hawkins added the winner on the hour mark.
