Youth Alliance: Fleetwood Town 4 Walsall 0

Walsall's young guns were back in action on Saturday morning.
Walsall Under-18s returned to action on Saturday morning as they made the trip North to take on Fleetwood Town Under-18s in their second EFL Youth Alliance - North West outing of the new campaign.

The young Saddlers opened their season with a disappointing defeat to Carlisle United, in a match which saw the young Cumbrians net three goals without reply to begin 2022/23 in style, leaving Walsall with plenty to work to do.

Opponents Fleetwood arrived at the match fresh off the back of a 2-1 victory over Port Vale, and with plenty of momentum as they welcomed the Saddlers to their Poolfoot Farm training ground on Saturday morning.

Sadly for the Saddlers, their poor start to the season continued as goals from Will Johnson (38'), the defender getting n the end of a Liam Roberts corner, and Dominic Richmond (45') put the young Cods into a two-goal lead before the match had reached the half-time break.

The home side went on to grab their third and fourth goals late in the second forty-five as Liam Roberts added to his first-half assist by netting a goal of his own before Pharrell Brown rounded off the scoring in added time as Fleetwood eased to victory on another disappointing afternoon for the young Saddlers.
