Walsall U18s Slow Start Continues as Oldham Score Six

The young Saddlers were back in action on Saturday morning.
Walsall Under-18s returned to action on Saturday morning as they made the trip to Greater Manchester where they would face Oldham Athletic in their first EFL Youth Alliance Cup outing of the new campaign.

After losing their first two Youth Alliance - North West fixtures of the season, attention turned to a cup clash with the Latics and an opportunity to start afresh and open the group stage with a win.

However, on what was another afternoon to forget for the young Saddlers, they went on to lose their third game in all competitions as the Latics grabbed six goals without reply and took their rightful place at the top of the group.

The result means Walsall have conceded some thirteen goals without replay in their three games, a truly terrible start to the new campaign, leaving Academy Manager Rob Williams and his team with plenty of work to do.
