Youth Alliance: Ronan Maher Hits Four as Walsall Power Past Port Vale

Walsall Under-18s were back in action on Saturday morning.
Walsall Under-18s returned to action on Saturday as they morning as they made the short trip up the M6 and took on Port Vale U18s in their latest EFL Youth Alliance outing of the season.

Looking to rebound from a midweek three-nil defeat to Blackpool, the young Saddlers, who had struggled to find their feet over the course of the campaign, were keen to return to winning ways as their season edged ever-closer to a conclusion.

Lining up with a team that included two under-15s, and seven under-16s it fell to seventeen-year-old Ronan Maher to grab the game by the scruff of the neck as the highly-rated prospect shone once again.

Maher, who has been a shining light amongst an otherwise dismal campaign, found the back of the net no less than four times during the second-half, helping the young Saddlers to earn a welcome win, surely not too long before Ronan is added to the first-team ranks?
