Wayne Hatswell Joins as Assistant Head Coach

Head Coach Michael Flynn has made his first signing as Saddlers boss.

Walsall have confirmed the signing of former Newport County assistant manager Wayne Hatswell, who joins the club as Assistant Head Coach.

In moving to the Banks's Hatswell reunites with former County colleague Michael Flynn, who he served alongside from early March 2017 until Flynn left Rodney Parade in October 2021.

As well as working as a coach over two spells at Newport, he has managed non-league side Stamford in 2013 and coached at Gillingham.

The 47-year-old also represented the likes of Forest Green Rovers, Oxford United, Kidderminster Harriers, Rushden & Diamonds, Cambridge United, Dundalk and the Exiles during his playing career.

Saddlers boss Flynn admitted hie is excited to be working with Hatswell again and is pleased to have him on board.

Speaking via the club's official website, Michael said; "I’m delighted that we’ve managed to bring Wayne to the football club, he will be a huge addition.

"He has got all the characteristics I look for in my staff. He’s an outstanding coach and a hard worker, which will only bring an improved quality to what’s already at the football club.

"We’ve had a successful partnership over the years and I’m really excited to have him on board."
