After losing their last seven league games, the newly-managerless Saddlers played host to title-chasing Tranmere on Saturday afternoon as interim managers Neil McDonald and Mat Sadler looked to steady the ship.
It was a turgid affair at Banks's Stadium with neither side able to create much in the final third, that was until the last five minutes of normal time as referee Sam Allison awarded the Saddlers a penalty following a foul inside the area, with Conor Wilkinson only happy to oblige from the spot.
