Pre-Match News & Views

After their eight-game all-competition unbeaten run came to an end at the hands of Forest Green Rovers on Wednesday afternoon, Matthew Taylor's Saddlers will be looking to return to winning ways this weekend.

Playing host to Play-Off chasing, though in poor form, Harrogate Town, Walsall will have their work cut out if they are to avoid adding another defeat to add to their midweek EFL Trophy collapse.

With several of the current crop really beginning to fins their feet, the defeat to Forest Green shouldn't have put much of a dent in their confidence, especially as the team shad already done enough to qualify for the next stage of the competition.

Opponents Harrogate Town are seventh in the table ahead of kick-off, but haven't won any of their last four league games and also arrive at the match on the back of an EFL Trophy defeat, having shipped four goals against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday evening.

There have only been two competitive meetings between the two sides, both of which ended in draws, so there is very little to go on in terms of history, meaning we don;t really know what to expect.

Hopefully, Taylor's side can bounce back from their recent defeat and add to Harrogate's woes/ The match takes place at the Banks's on Saturday, with kick-off at the usual 3.00pm.

Man in the Middle

The EFL has confirmed that Marc Edwards, who is based in Tyne & Wear, will be the man in the middle, whilst Lewis Raper and Billy Smallwood have been named assistant referees. Matthew Smith will act as Fourth Official.
