Central League Cup: Walsall 3 Huddersfield Town 0

Walsall's development side was in Central League Cup action on Tuesday afternoon.
Playing host to Huddersfield Town reserves, the Saddlers were looking to not only get three points on the board, but also add some much-needed match minutes as the payers look to force their way into the first-team plans.

Managed by player/coach Mat Sadler, a mixed-experience team was fielded, with first-teamers Jack Rose, Alfie Bates, and Sam Perry being joined by prospects such as Shay Willock and Ronan Maher.

WALSALL TEAM
Rose; Baldwin, Lynch, Leak, Worley, Sarvari, Bates, Willis, Willock, Perry, Maher

Substitutes: Jew, Edwards, Wisdom, Shaw, Cristofaro

Putting some of their recent defeats and draws behind them, the Saddlers enjoyed a superb afternoon at Ray Hall Lane, as they entered one of their best performances of the season so far, putting the visitors in their place.

Goals from Shay Willock (6'), Alfie Bates (48'), and Ronan Maher (59') were enough to see the Reds home to victory as Terriers goalkeeper Giosue Bellagambi was unable to keep his sheet clean during a tough few hours in Great Barr.
