Walsall Head Coach Matthew Taylor has spoken to the local press and revealed that midfielder Rory Holden has suffered another injury setback.

Speaking after his side had suffered their third defeat in as many games as Forest Green Rovers won by three-goals-to-one at the Banks's on Saturday afternoon, the gaffer confirmed Holden has suffered a recurrence of his knee injury and will not be available for selection.

Last week, Taylor revealed that Holden, who has made just two first-team appearances in 2021, was close to being in contention for the clash with Forest Green but has suffered another setback in his road to recovery.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Matthew said; "He’s had a recurrence, unfortunately. I’m really, really disappointed, as is Rory – he won’t be available for the next game.

"I can’t give you any more information than that other than from my perspective I would love him to be available, to be in the squad and affect the game on the pitch.

"Unfortunately, that’s not the case. The physios are dealing with it, but all the information I can give you is that he’s not fit to be involved."
