"It's a Huge Boost" - Matthew Taylor Reacts as Walsall Secure Their First Win of the Season

Head Coach Matthew Taylor spoke to the media following the Saddlers' League Two clash with Stevenage.
After seeing the Saddlers fail to win any of their five all-competition games heading into Saturday's clash, Taylor admitted he was delighted as his side took all three points against the visiting Boro.

Grabbing an early goal via summer signing Conor Wilkinson, his first in a Walsall shirt, the Saddlers were able to deny Stevenage a goal of their own during a successful afternoon at the Banks's.

Taylor, who had used his recent press conferences to insist he still believed in his team, was clearly elated after the full-time whistle as he and members of the Saddlers faithful celebrated a welcome win.

Speaking to the assembled media, Matthew said; "It's a huge boost. The players had to deliver a performance. That was what we spoke about before the game, giving the fans a performance.

"They've delivered that. They performed better as a team because we mixed the play more.

"Of course, we all want to watch free-flowing football, but what the players have done is find a way to win. That's the most important thing, so I'm really happy."
